How have people & items reached other planets before? You will also need to investigate methods of propulsion & decide which one that you are likely to use.

How have People Previously Travelled to Space:

Previous expeditions to space involve journeys to the moon. On these occasions they have used spaceships fueled by oil and fossil fuels. Otherwise we have only sent rovers and probes to explore. We cannot use the methods of propulsion that we used before because the fuel for the trip would weigh to much for the spaceship to take off as well as us not having nearly enough petrol to perform this endeavour.

LightSail:

This system is very curious. It utilizes the sun’s rays in order to move the ship. Think of it as a sailboat but because the sun’s  rays are moving particles it accelerates the craft without any other means of propulsion.

Nuclear:

Scientist state that we could also achieve our goal to get to Mars by “exploding” small nuclear bombs behind us. This means that we could use the explosions to bumpily get to Mars. This is very risky but it is still a possible concept. Scientist regard this as the riskiest method of propulsion.

Nuclear Fusion:

Despite this, there are many theoretical possibilities that are possible in the near future. One of these possibilities is the Nuclear Fusion program.

This program is very curious, according to scientists calculations if we used fuel it would take 500 days to reach Mars. Despite this, with Nuclear Fusion we could get to Mars in only 90 days.

  • Explain methods of how people and items have reached other planets or moons in the past - write up/research

  • Investigation of various methods for propulsion (research/write up, try to include photos and diagrams)

  • Decide on the method that we're going to use- then justify it (also a writeup, with images to back up your reasoning if possible
